Carol Flax Segall

With a BFA in ceramics and an MFA in fibers and textile design, Carole has been embellishing surfaces with her patterns since the ‘70’s, including weavings, ceramics, scarves for Henri Bendels, clothing design and production and 22k

gold jewelry. After owning a graphic design/multimedia company with 15 employees she returned to working with her hands and her love of patterns and colors, combining gemstones and gold to produce exquisite one of kind jewelry pieces.

Carole was born into a family where she was surrounded by a love of art. Her mother has been a full-time painter her entire life and met her father at his art supply store in Chicago. She was infused with a sense of aesthetics from the beginning. She started working with her hands as a little girl and has never stopped making beautiful things. It has defined her in many ways. Her work has taken the form of several mediums, but 22k gold and the ancient practices of goldsmithing now represent a beauty in the color, form, and perfect patterns using granulation that this material possesses. She is continually delighted in the rich gold color and gemstones presented on her bench. Every day is like opening a treasure chest, creating ancient to modern gold pieces.

Her jewelry studies include The Revere Academy in San Francisco, Valentin Yotkov, Davide Bigazzi, and Cecelia Bauer.
